Monopoly's iconic Atlantic City properties are now pieces of Bikini Bottom in this whimsical remake starring Nickelodeon's SpongeBob SquarePants. Tokens have been replaced with animated characters SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, and Squidward. The main view offers a 3D version of the board, with an overhead display in the top right corner so players can see who has claimed which properties. "Community Chest" and "Chance" cards are now "Treasure Chest" and "Life Preserver," while houses and hotels are now pineapple houses and Krusty Krab franchises.
In addition to the standard Monopoly rules, players can elect to play by Squidward's or Plankton's rules. The former lets players move any character on the board, while the latter is a race to acquire the most cash before Plankton completes a lap around the board. Optional mini-games are also available, from rapidly tapping the "A" key to reduce purchase prices to shaking the mouse to earn extra cash after passing "Go." Each game type includes an assortment of customization features, allowing players to adjust mortgage rates, hotel numbers, starting cash, and more.
