Gamers are invited to grab the wheel, push the pedal to the metal, and watch out for brick walls in GTI Racer. The game features officially licensed Volkswagen cars including, 15 models spanning the five generations of the golf series, the T1 "Samba" Transporter (also known as the VW Bus), the original Beetle, and concept cars. Gamers can compete in over 70 races in career mode, or try their luck in drift competitions, drag racing, and a baja challenge. Winning races unlocks vehicle upgrades like spoilers, exhausts, rims, and turbos from real-life manufactures such as Brembo, Eibach, and König. GTI Racer also features a car damage system where each bit of contact leaves dings and dents and causes stress to the vehicle, so those fancy new rims might not look new for too long. Gamers can create their own courses and save replays to their hard drive in .AVI format, then share their creations with others using GTI Racer's LAN and Internet capabilities. Online racing is also available for up to four players at a time.
